I write and talk A LOT about ahimsa and kindness....towards self and others.
One healthy habit that I try to practice myself and to encourage in my clients is NOT talking negatively about oneself. My clients know that if they "put themselves down" verbally, then we are all doing push-ups for that negative self-talk. Letting go of negative self-talk can take some time and practice.
I think an even more challenging practice can be replacing that negativity with positive thoughts. That's what we are going to try today. Just like we try to focus on what we CAN do instead of what we can't....today we are going to focus on your positive traits/qualities/strengths as opposed to focusing on the negative or weaknesses.
I know it can sometimes be hard saying nice things about ourselves, so I'll make it easy on you. Imagine that your friend or family member is asked to describe you in 5 words. What are the 5 words that your good friend or family member would use to describe you?
Please share those 5 words here today or tomorrow. This is a fantastic exercise in self-kindness, a very healthy habit we can ALL practice daily.
I look forward to reading your words.
